Audio Description Awareness Day 2025

Happy Audio Description Awareness Day! This year, we’re sharing the anonymous survey from 75 AD Facilities and AD professionals.

The Foundations Are There.
Now Comes the Reckoning.

This year’s anonymous survey shows an industry that knows exactly what’s broken, and how to fix it.

From pay equity to standardized timelines to client education, the consensus is emerging: the current model is unsustainable, and the next phase of AD must be built on respect, collaboration, and access.

With streaming platforms expanding their global accessibility mandates, and blind and low-vision communities increasingly voicing clear standards for immersive AD, the pressure to reform is not abstract. It’s operational. This moment offers leverage: if stakeholders act now (aligning rates, timelines, and workflows to professional realities), AD can evolve from fragmented afterthought to creative discipline.

The infrastructure isn’t there yet. But the vision is clearer than ever. This survey gives us the blueprint, and the urgency to act.
